Nomadic Matt

This dude did what I am doing...left his job and a "successful" middle class lifestyle to travel and create his own lifestyle. He's living instead of working to make a living. Many cool blog posts. Something I aspire to create...

Vagabonding

This is the website for Rolf Potts, the guy who wrote this book which served as inspiration for my travels and shift in lifestyle. It also provides a lot of good practical advice and resources.

Grantland

Some people have reality TV, others trashy novels. I have Grantland. A site created full of stories about sports and culture and the often interplay of these two. Started by sportswriter Bill Simmons, it includes many awesome awesome sports and pop culture writers (notably Chuck Klosterman & Malcolm Gladwell).

Jack Kerouac's Essentials of Spontaneous Prose

Kerouac is a key influence in my life, especially as a writer. With no schooling (and none necessary) I abide by these guidelines as I write, not as an homage to one of my favorite writers, but because I currently believe this is the truest form of expression and it suits me at this stage. Using these guidelines enabled me to overcome the greatest obstruction to my writing:  trying to produce something refined and worthy of others' praise. When I was younger, I would not write much, for fear of what others would think. What a constrictive view to live by in regards to creative expression! So I must give thanks to Jack for inspiring me to liberate myself from the prison of self-consciousness.
